Seattle Boat Show Shilshole Bay Marina

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 9, 2010

Everyone knows that boats shows are great for checking out the latest gear and shopping for the boat of your dreams. The Seattle Boat Show at Shilshole Bay Marina – August 12 -15 – is no different. There will be more than 150 new and pre-owned boats – ranging from 14 to 74 feet in length – plus an accessory tent full of gear and electronics. That, combined with dealers not wanting to go into the winter months with excess inventory, means plenty of opportunity for good deals for the first-time boat buyer or those wanting to trade up. But if you’re wondering what kind of boating you might enjoy, the Shilshole show will also be the place to check out first-hand a variety of water sports. There will be free 90-minute sailboat rides, free stand up paddleboard lessons and thrilling wakeboard demos from the region’s top riders. Come see what might float your boat!

Wakeboard Alley features thrills and spills

The region’s top, young wakeboarders will take to the water inside Shilshole Bay Marina to perform the sport’s most electrifying and challenging maneuvers. These talented athletes will demonstrate the range of their skills and provide a show jam-packed with grinds, tricks and flips.

The Wakeboard Alley at the Seattle Boat Show at Shilshole features multiple 20-foot rails and sliders, plus a kicker that launches riders into the air, creating a wake wonderland for these spectacular riders. Wakeboard demonstrations will be held each day of the show and will last approximately 25 minutes.

Wakeboard Alley demonstration schedule:

Thursday, August 12: 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m.

Friday, August 13: 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m.

After five minutes of onshore instruction, paddlers will take to the water with an instructor and get to try it for themselves! Lessons will be held continuously throughout show hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No lessons/demos on Thursday Sign up at the show. First come, first served.

Free 90-minute sailboat rides.

There’s no catch, no sales pitches involved, no fancy qualifying requirements. It is pure and simply an idea the Seattle Boat Show organizers came up with to expose people to the fun of sailing. Space is limited – first come, first served. You must check-in at the Discover Sailing booth at least 15 minutes prior to departure time. Life jackets are provided. See http://www.seattleboatshow.com/index.cfm?p=free-boat-rides for a schedule of departures.

New in 2010: Prost Beer Garden

Greenwood’s favorite neighborhood bar, Prost, will be creating a German-style beer garden. Choose between the many beers on tap such as a Dinkel Acker Dunkel, a Spaten Optimator or a Bitburger Pilsner and wash it down with a big Bavarian-style soft pretzel with spicy mustard. A boat show ticket is not required to enter the beer garden, but proper ID is.

Come to the boat show by water and get in free!

On Saturday and Sunday of the show (August 14-15), those arriving by boat can tour the show for free, plus get 3 hours of guest moorage while they’re at the show! Space is limited. First docked, first served!
